Target Group(s) of Ministry: Homeless; Addicted; Mentally or Emotionally Challenged

Current Needs: Building repairs — licensed plumbers, electricians and contractors to donate their skills for the improvement of Open Door's chapel. Professional crews to repair exteriors of Open Door's two buildings in order to meet City of Detroit building standards. "Adopt a Room" — Single Room Occupancy (SRO) transitional housing program has six rooms in need of a complete makeover. An accountant. Donation of a good car or van. General funding and fundraising.

Most Helpful Attitude from Volunteer: Willingness to identify with people without any sense of superiority. Openness to share a personal testimony to remind those who come to the mission of their own innate potential.

Future: Rebuilding of women's transitional housing facility in another location (based on the current men's transitional housing program); recruiting of a Volunteer Staff Representative to spend time at the mission and help volunteer effectiveness; opening a Thrift Store.
