Outreach for Christ to the Nursing Home Ministries was born over five years ago with the heartfelt vision of one man. Chaplain Doug Lee has a love for poeple in their later years of life, particularly because they are being forgotten by the general population. Over 70% of nursing home residents do not see a visitor and many do not confess a personal relationship with Christ. This was enough to motivate Chaplain Doug, himself living with a physical handicap, to organize and mobilize teams of people of faith to reach out to this forgotten portion of our population.
The doors are open for more teams to be formed, if the workers of the harvest will emerge from the woodwork. There is much freedom for the team to be creative with; all that is needed is a love for people and a love for sharing the Lord Jesus. The sincerity of this ministry and its leadership is unmistakable. So share what God's given you and you will be blessed.
Target Group of Ministry: Nursing home residents
Current Needs: More teams of dedicated Christians to commit to a specific local nursing home to visit its residents and share the gospel with them. "Training and Team Building Workshop" provided, addressing nursing home ministry and evangelism. Nursing homes without church presence are paired with Christian group or church that desires to minister.
Most Helpful Attitude from Volunteer: Love for people in the care centers and an understanding of their plight. Most see no visitors.
Future: Growth in number of residents being connected with and number of teams bringing worship and testimony. Continued commitment to evangelism and sharing the loving messagse of Jesus with the elderly.
Events: Visit a service at a local nursing home. Contact Chaplain Doug Lee for time and venue.
Prayer: Pray for the vitality and the unity of each of the 25 teams currently ministering in various facilities and that many would come to give their hearts to the Lord.
