GOING TO HELP MISSION UPDATE
Click on the arrow for some of my recent pictures.
Friends,
A good friend reminded me that I should do a better job of communicating what I'm up to as a minister and missionary all around Metro Detroit. I have to admit, that I haven't done a great job of getting out word out about Going to Help and the work that's being done.
As you know, I've been carrying a vision and working on a website with the address LookUpDetroit.com. This is a nonprofit outreach of Going to Help. My desire is to see better connections and communication throughout the Metro Area. Believe this will prove to be an tool for numerous churches and nonprofit's and can do much good in a Metro Area that absolutely needs to see the Christian Community in action. Even with my current efforts on the site, it's amazing how many doors this project has opened and the positive responses I get from believers and unbelievers alike. The website is now a point of needing to invite community participation and I would appreciate your prayers, as we share the vision with others.
I was invited to a great day down at the Detroit Institute of Arts called T.E.D. X Detroit stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. It's a nationally recognized online project highlighting live presentations by top thinkers in various disciplines. That also have local venues. This one-day event in Detroit is by invitation, because of the look of Detroit Project, I was invited and had a great day there. Attendance was around 800 people, the vast majority being younger folks with both creative gifts and real concerns about Metro Detroit.
Two days later I was invited to a Wayne State event which also has opened up some interesting contacts and relationships with students down in the Wayne State area.
The past few weeks we've had a couple concerts where Theresa and our daughter Sarah have performed. The first one being in Lapeer, Michigan and the other in Detroit to raise both funding and awareness of the human crisis in Darfur, Africa. Our daughter, Carrie also joined in singing for that concert. This was Sarah's brainchild and we raised over $1500 for Darfur.
Theresa and I have a new grandchild, her name is Ariel Marie, living in San Francisco, we won't be too hands-on in terms of babysitting, but she's a sweetie and we are enjoying her with a few visits along with pictures and videos. We are for San Francisco in the World Series which creates another strong connection with Ariel and parents ! !
Although, I have many connections with numerous churches and pastors our primary church connection is with Holy Redeemer in Rochester Hills. It is a congregation we were involved in founding and we love serving and being there. We've just launched a 5:30 Saturday night service with Theresa leading worship and and myself assisting in various capacities. See the new Video about the Church You'll find us there most every Saturday night and many Sunday Mornings, but not on the video, we were gone the weekend it was shot. It's a great presentation of the church.
Another website I have is FatherDalton.com, it's surprising how many connections this blog generates. The website has links to many ministries that I have connected to over the years. Ministries serving the poor, inner-city kids, ex-offenders and others. People often call me for referrals and directions to get help.
That's about as much as I can share and now, but I will try to be a better communicator.
Financial support is needed and appreciated. Tax-deductible gifts can be sent to:
