Target Groups of Ministry: Homeless and high risk girls and young women
Current Needs: Volunteers to be mentors (adult women who mentor an individual woman or a small group of two to three), to do street outreach (go out in AFG vans and give Help Cards, food, harm-reduction kits and transportation to young women in crisis or at risk) and to assist with administration and events. Orientation and training provided bsed on volunteer duty. AFG also has a Wish List displaying many items — from African-american hair products to a new van (see www.alternativesforgirls.org/WishList.html). Financial and in-kind donations (such as lawn care and snow removal) are needed as well. Mahima Mahadevan is the donor coordinator (mmahadevan@alternativesforgirls.org).
