Autumn's Song
written by Carolyn Dalton
at 10 years old
The summer swiftly baits his breath,
As wind his sister sounds his death.
When he sinks down to his misty doom,
Fall sounds his ivory horn of gloom.
Jade carpets replaced by shining gold,
A ritual kept since days of old.
Heavy gale of silent night,
Softly whispers in her flight.
While thrushes swiftly are ascending,
Signs of light mean night is ending.
As lavender mist shall welcome the morn,
Sovereign mount its self shall adorn,
With trees of crimson and amber of grace
In Autumn the world is a wonderful place.
by Carolyn Dalton - 5th Grade
This poem by our ten year old daughter impressed the whole teaching staff,
we assured them that she wrote it without a bit of help from home.
