Today, my son and I are scoping out his off campus living arrangements in the Ann Arbor area as a University student.  

I love the kid but he has his quirks, like the fact that he has been bringing sticks home since he was a little boy, and he still does.  

I yell "put that stick away"   "stop twirling that stick in the living room"  

He assures me, I'm much too concerned and uptight, and he has everything under control..  

Sticks are used often in my world of church and liturgy, look at  this cartoon about sticks.
